Millions? Chump change.

Insurance companies suck BILLIONS of dollars from homeowners and businesses for wind and flood insurance.  The primary threats of losses to these homeowners and businesses are tropical storms.  Yet NOAA predicted an AVERAGE year and they have BUSTED.  Then they changed their forecast but it is still calling for a chance of an average year.  Buy your insurance now!

Not that JB forecasted anything less.

It's a full comedy of errors.

Of course getting the track right is important, but to give these institions cart blanche is beyond crazy.  I wouldn't spare any part of government, or any party that runs it, the same critical comments.

The NHC deserves cudos when they call one right and criticism when they bust.  There were a number of posters here and elsewhere that independantly called this storm's track based on the models . . . I am just saying. Where do the models come from?  Mmmm? The NHC is very accurate in the 24 hour range.  Accurate in 3 days and have good estimates in 5 days.  They are generally worthless beyond that and on intensity, by admission only able to REPORT it.  And long range?  BIG TIME BUST this season.  BIG TIME.

El Nino.  Jeez.

And the climate change debate?  To miss the forcing of CO2 and electrics?  It may go down in history as one of the biggest scientific flops in history.  It's a flat earth kind of a blunder.  And right in the middle of it, following perhaps the most unscientific government of all time in its proper historical context, the Bush administration, is policy dictating science.  And this is not to let up on the Clinton/Gore executive which pushed global warming theory and research behind it.  A combination of ill proportions.  That government heads up NOAA and one part of NOAA is the NHC.  And here are these storms, which are the most electrical phenomenon on earth, and our institutions of science completely have blown it.

That's the context of then the government making perhaps TRILLION dollar decisions like on cap and trade and so forth.  A comedy of errors, it really is.
