Facebook and Instagram are separate enough I think that you could create an account at Instagram. Years ago I created a fake account just to see how it worked. I didn't post anything. Eventuallyit was suspended or deleted. Last year I created a personal account. Never posted anything. I logged in to try to signup for Threads and found it was suspended. I was having a lot of issues signing up. I couldn't appeal the suspension because it had been more than 30 days. I kept trying to find ways to signup and finally they blocked my IP through the website. I was finally going to file a BBB complaint, even though they don't ever respond to those, because contacting them without an account is seemingly impossible. But I thoughtabout trying to sign up through the Instagram or Threads app, forget which I tried to sign up through, and that for some reason worked. I was even able to switch my email to my main email I signed up with last year. My Facebook account, which uses the same email I signed up with last year, remains active, they never suspended it. I think you have to login occasionally or they delete your Instagram account. Though the suspension may have been for the account I originally created and didn't do anythingwith, just because I didn't use my real name. But from looking online, they may delete accounts that aren't used after a period of time, but their policy isn't exactly clear.

I don't plan on using the account, I just wanted to reserve a name. And even though I hate both companies, I hate Twitter more at the moment and wanted to contribute to signups for Threads. They already have my personal info when I signed up for Facebook, though I don't actively use it, so it's not like I'm giving it up to someone new. If someone does create a Threads profile, which you have to do after you have an Instagram account, you can't then delete the Threads profile. You would have to delete your Instagram and Threads account. Facebook account would be unaffected. They might change that.

I don't want to spend time creating anything constantly. Or feel likeI do. My site runs itself. I update things when I need to. I don't want to feel like I need to post something constantly. When NOAA had radar data I could use from the plane, that was something unique I could post, like loops I could create. I don't want to justretweet the NHC constantly. You know a lot about the weather, I know about some web designstuff. You would have a lot more reason to be on a platform like that, or at least actively use it. But as for people seeing it, no idea. The people that hype things irresponsibly get views. And there are people who get lots of views that are responsible too. I've never been good with knowing how to get views.

My site, until I update the mapping, needs to have less people visit because Google Maps charges after so many views. I don't allow that to happen, I just have the map shut off or have a messageon it before I can get charged. So I would not want a post to ever go viral. I would never link to my model map directly for that reason, so there are reasons why I don't want a lot of viewers.

I don't like a lot of the concept of social media. Some people like connecting everything together. I wouldn't want a friend posting publicly something like, when you are getting back from your trip? I wouldn't want to share too much so that identity thieves could get something. Or a social media platform gets hacked and even if it's not public, someone then gets the info. But for a lot of people, they do need to use social media, or could benefit using it to some extent. I guess that's the best way to get content out. Don't know the best way to get a lot of viewers, but it's a free way to do it and that's just what most people seem to use.

I integrated Threads at CaneTalk. People can post threads just using the link. If they change things, it will break. I also noticed that you can't post Instagram and Threads posts in the same message. The embed code is too similar I think and it breaks, showing just one, when you add both to a message.

So posting a link like this:

https://www.threads.net/t/CuZsgfWLyiI/

Will do this:

Automatically when "Display social media content from links" is checked.

This feature works for YouTube (videos), Twitter (tweets), Facebook (posts, photos and videos), Instagram (posts and videos), Threads (posts), Imgur (images and videos) and NHC Audio Briefings (mp3 files). In our testing, you can't post an Instagram and Threads post in the same message. The Threads message will not load.
