That's true. It was a rain event and not a wind event. I'm unaware of anyone referring to this weeks weather as a wind event.

My adding comments about wind in addition to the rain story (that was well covered by TV) were a reflection of: 1) What I personally noticed after waking up at 4am; 2.) NOAA data coming in every 6 minutes from nearby Wrightsville Beach; and 3.) What I read elsewhere on the internet. (I LIVE here and know better than to look at the Wilmington Airport to see what MY winds are.)

I could easily have reported no winds here. I could have slept late. I could have had my windows shut with the A/C on and never heard the winds. I could have never gone outside. Etc.

One cannot disprove a negative. If a person says he/she never saw any winds over 20mph does that mean such winds didn't exist?

Myrtle Beach Airport reported windy conditions from Midnight through 2am. How far from the ocean is that airport? Were you awake those hours? Was a writer from the SC coast lying when he said his house was shaking? Questions, questions, questions....lol.

Absolutely --- no one will think of or remember this weather system for its winds or lack therof; it will be remembered for what it was; a rain event.
