Danny is largely naked swirl with convection only on part of him.
This intensity issue has been discussed generally in terms of 'shear', SSTs and so forth.
Not discussed more generally except in climatology context is the QBO:

Big storms come when this index is max negative. Like Wilma. Gilbert. These storms of course are stacked--no naked swirls about them.
This index IMHO needs more time to get there.
Therefore, Danny will have difficulty staying stacked and intensifying into a bigger storm. Bigger storms will come later in the season. |
