Well said.  It's only been the last 45 years that we have been able to first visualize, and then progressivly measure global "weather patterns"(I hate that terminology).  If you think about it, when your local TV weather monkey says the "average" high for today is 86, and it's 88 he will tell you slightly above average temps are forecast for your area.  Average's do not exist in the physical world.  They are a human invention to try and make some kind of ordered sense from the chaos that is our every day world.  The longer you you record those values the closer you get to an average yet, to quote a stat's prof. I once had, you will never see it reflected in the physical world.  Meaning if the average temp that day is 86 and it really is 86, that temp just changed what the average temp is.
