Re: electrolyte drinks recipes to make your own

Several years ago I was building a wall of landscaping pavers for my grandmother when it was really hot out and I bought some Gatorade. Really helped when dehydrated. I've been drinking a lot of it since. Originally did the regular, then lower sugar and now just that zero variety.

Whenever we get soda too, we get the zero variety if we can get it since it would be a bit less unhealthy. Walmart, when they have it, has a really cheap version of the zero, but they are so often out of it.

I never thought about making something with electrolytes at home. As for fresh things, I'll be kind of avoiding that kind of thing more, though some things can be washed with not too much difficulty. Others are a little harder. Nonperishable stuff is easy, you can just leave it alone for awhile. My dad likes lots of fruits more than I do, especially watermelon. Tried for years to grow one, I don't think we ever succeeded. Something would always get to it. We have burgers sometimes and we've been skipping the lettuce and tomato for now, but we may get some eventually. Tomatoes are easier to wash. Depending on how the head of lettuce might be packaged, you could always wash the outside some and maybe get rid of some of the outside. Wait several days to eat it maybe. Some things last a bit longer than others. Pretty low risk I'm sure, but doing what we can to reduce the risk. I'll have to think about what can be frozen more.
