I remember HAARP from a long time ago.

'Cant remember exactly how far back but it might have been submarine communications back in the 1970s when I worked at DTNSRDC (we worked on projects ranging from Trident Submarines to the Space Shuttle.)

As a side note; we also did all the analysis for retro-fitting then current U.S. surface warships with stronger hulls following the debacle of Argentina sinking or seriously damaging British warships with French Exocet missiles. Anyone remember the Argentine-British war?

All in all, there wasn't much 'science paranoia' during the '70s because most the 'bad stuff' was behind us.....But there was plenty of nonsense during the 1960s when the 'gloom and doom Bible Belters' ran amok.

Talk about 'prophesies' - oh my!

With the U.S., the Soviet Union, and France setting off thermonuclear (H-Bomb) explosions the religious right was of course screaming "the end of the world is upon us!" On radio and TV it was the "prophecy of the week" on how God was going to 'punish us.'

When it comes to conservative religious ideology; over the last 50 years we'd all have been killed a hundred times over from meteors, earthquakes, volcanoes, hydrogen bombs, diseases, or whatever wrath God could come up with. If I had a dollar for every prophesied disaster that never happened, I'd be rich.

IMAGINE IF THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE ATOM BOMB HAD BEEN PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE IN THE UNITED STATES - and we had things like youtube then......
