Here's the thing, Cypress (and you are obviously a most kind and understanding person): there were gentle hints dropped to Doug about the debt he owed back while he was still posting here -- in fact on the very same thread(s) where he was posting -- and he blew right by them.
I think all he had to do was say he wasn't in a position to pay just now for whatever reason -- could happen to any of us -- but instead he just ignored Jim, and that's the unfortunate part, because Jim felt pretty certain Doug would make good on the bet (and it was an amount that HC could certainly put to good use).
Look, I'm not judge and jury and so am not going to say anything further on the subject, other than to just reiterate what Canetrakker said "amen" to: Let's none of us make wagers here any more unless we fully intend (and are able) to carry through. Fair enough? That way it doesn't ruin an enjoyable tradition for everyone else. |
