also, we don't have basements here - groundwater is too high.  so, the type used here are mainly to drain standing water into the storm sewers faster & not to keep it from seeping into basements

flood ins is a good buy - zoom in on any area here: http://maps2.tsarp.org/tsarp/ and you will see why Houston is called "The Bayou City".  We are currently in Zone X, but are surrounded by Little Cypress & Cypress Creek - we purchased flood ins when we bought this home - last one was in the Floodway - had it there also, but it's cheaper here :)
