Flood insurance and ??french drains?

Posted by aquaRN on 9/22/2009, 9:27 am

What are 'french drains'?

I was amazed to see that several of areas of flooding were caused by overflow of 'drainage' ponds like you see now in all large new residential areas.

I certainly would have never thought that such places would need flood insurance. Abrams did say an interesting stat...  In a 30 year mortgage, one as a 9% chance of fire but a 26% (I think she said) of having a flood).

I guess that is another call for people to realize they need flood insurance...even in low risk areas.
