Re: so happy for you, Chris :)

It's really nice to finally have it. A lot of the people in my family already got the vaccine, pretty much everyone that has been eligible to get it. It's nice to join the club.

I'll probably go to the dentist too, sometime in late May perhaps. At least two weeks after my second shot. I might get an annual physical sometime then too since the last one was in February 2020. I was going to continue to wait but my dad made the point that the vaccine will be most effective earlier on. Late in the year it might not be quite as effective so in that regard it doesn't pay to wait. But I'll have to see how cases are doing too. It would be a routine dental checkup and physical, so if cases are too bad I might decide to wait a little. The vaccine is really getting distributed now, so hopefully enough people will continue to wear masks as more get vaccinated so that we don't see too much of a surge like some other countries are seeing. (I say hopefully, but some places are seeing the surge in the U.S.) At least the vaccine is extremely effective in preventing serious illness. I won't say 100% because I don't know if there have been serious cases at this point. There wasn't in trials, but I don't know about now, though I haven't heard of any. At least most of the people I know are vaccinated now, so even if I did get unlucky and get it if I went somewhere in late May, I'd be unlikely to spread it to people I know. Although I'll still be wearing a mask then and still be social distancing from people I know too. The only real difference is that I'll probably stop wearing goggles. I'll still double mask. I wear glasses, so in the couple times I have been out it's hard to keep the goggles from fogging up, along with my glasses.

In the summer I'll probably be around some family at a birthday party for my grandmother, but everyone there will be vaccinated and there would be less than 10 people. Still not 100% certain we will do that then, but getting vaccinated was necessary for it to be possible.

My dad was waiting on most all of his doctor appointments too. He finally started going after he got both doses. Not the greatest idea for some people to go without seeing a doctor for the most part, but it worked out during that period pretty well. It's great that we are both going to have the vaccine though, because he did worry about possibly bringing it home when I wasn't vaccinated. That's another reason why I did want to get it as soon as possible, so he wouldn't have to worry too much.
