Can pretty much echo your exact sentiments here in  the NW Florida panhandle, Chris.   Gulf water temp is around 80 and I won't mind it going down as our air temps fall, thanks especially to the first strong cold front of the season's having just gone through Sunday night.  We, too, have had record high temps this month (especially up in mainland Pensacola) but are now experiencing a big cool down, with high temps only in the mid-70's (maybe even  high 60's on Wednesday!) and lows mid-50's-60's.

Then looking at the 10-day it appears there'll be a reinforcing shot of cooler air over the weekend, with overnight low temps Sat./Sun. actually predicted in the upper 40's for the nearby Gulf Breeze peninsula, and daytime highs only in the 60's.  Wow.  (Will likely be slightly warmer here on the island due to the still-warm Gulf waters.)

But then, this should be no real surprise since Halloween is usually the turning point here for noticeably cooler weather.

Yet they say we're in for another warm winter, which is too bad because I rarely get to wear a sweater and thus can't justify buying any new ones.  Poor me.   Ha.    Good for the budget, I suppose.
