I was wondering if they were doing repairs to the P-3 that had been available. I thought they might have torn the plane apart like they did to the other P-3 that they are doing a massive upgrade on.

I have spent about a month rewriting the radar system to work a bit better and was hoping to test it soon, although I am not quite done yet.

Speaking of Jeff Masters, I got an email from another meteorologist at Weather Underground who got an email from Jeff Masters, and he from the author of the paper, about how the SFMR wind data in HDOB messages now automatically include a bias correction to account for heavy precipitation.

You can download an early version of the paper about it here that is available free:

Or for meteorologists with access, here is the final version:

Power Point presentation:

I was just checking the email chain with all of them where I was curious for a little bit of confirmation on how it works and the author of the paper said all the SFMR processors have been updated. And Jeff Masters knows about my site.
