Thanks for asking - sorry for the delayed response - I just got in.
CONUS can be very grateful that we were spared this year, given the exceedingly high water temperatures.
I am a bit surprised we didn't really see a very potent storm spin up in the west Carib.
I would say that given about 4 weeks left in the season, an excellent chance that no purely tropical system will make landfall.
GOM is cooling off fast now and fronts are progressively digging deeper.
That is not to say a hybrid storm can not hit CONUS.
In fact, the east coast could see some strong nor'easters in the coming months.
This is based on the fact the Gulf Stream is very warm.
Could be another round of very heavy blizzards for the east.
