Extremely BOLD statements coming from someone with such a profound knowledge on the matter and science as a whole. While I agree that models are better, your making it seem like they are the holy grail. They barely nail troughs day in and day out. They barely nail temperatures I could go on and on. While yes our fundamental knowledge of how these systems work BASED on our knowledge of HOW we THINK things work has led us to better predictability of such atmospheric processes, but to consider the thought that we're that well off is a bit misleading in so many ways. We still don't know exactly why lightening strikes where it does. There is MUCH MORE to learn, then we allready know, and lets not mistake that for anything else.

And to clarify I'm not aruging about Bill or Bastardi vs Bill, simply your statements about our knowledge of science and what we do with it. We've seen highs NOT build in as forecasted, on the flip side, we've seen Lows be nothing compared to what models indacate and this is day in and day out. To assume were that firmly established that we can rely on tracks 5 days out is dangerous in terms of forecasting dangerous weather and shouldn't be tolerated. Like you said and I did agree with, our knowledge only gets better.
