Posted by Chris in Tampa on 8/23/2018, 9:16 pm
Model forecast wind swaths are from 24 hours from 2pm EDT Thursday.
(forecast sustained winds, not gusts, and just for ground level) Forecast
path from 2pm EDT shown. 8pm EDT actual storm position according to
best track data. Swaths from NHC's ATCF system.

Also have 100 statute mile measurement for comparison.

For the shown model:

34 Knot Wind Radii
In Nautical Miles For Each Quadrant
Northeast: 120nm
Southeast: 120nm
Southwest: 58nm
Northwest: 91nm

I just wanted to show the tropical storm force wind field in comparison to
the Hawaiian Islands.

The CPHC forecast for 24 hours, for a different forecast position which is
noted in the image (24H), is:

FORECAST VALID 24/1800Z 19.4N 157.6W
MAX WIND 105 KT...GUSTS 130 KT.
64 KT... 30NE  20SE  15SW  20NW.
50 KT... 50NE  40SE  30SW  40NW.
34 KT...110NE  90SE  50SW 100NW.
