Thanks for asking, Chris.   Nate was much ado about nothing here.   We had initially held off evacuating, but the NHC's surge warnings (4 - 6 ft.) were unfortunately never taken down, and we were simply worried about possibly losing both vehicles to salt water intrusion, so packed it up and went to an off-island hotel Saturday afternoon.   Many others stayed, and I wish we had.  We returned Sunday morning to realize we'd expended much senior energy, time, worry, and money we'd rather not have used for what turned out to be absolutely nothing.  There was some minor flooding on the north side of the island (from the Sound, rather than the Gulf), which was interesting  but not particularly noteworthy.

I suppose it was good practice, since we hadn't evacuated in five years, though we really didn't do anywhere near the full preps we would've had a major been heading our way, such that we perhaps might expect to be gone for weeks and/or possibly sustain serious damage to the house itself, rather than just what was underneath.  Still, it was trouble enough.

Doubtless you and others will say (or at least think) that we should be grateful for no harm done.  Yeah, well, still a pain in the ol' patoot -- and of course the problem is scenarios like that (same as the one five years ago -- for Isaac, also a bust here) start to foster the cry wolf syndrome.

Sorry you asked?
