Stevemc12, there's a non-mandatory county evac order in place as of late Fri. afternoon, due solely to the NHC's predicted 4 - 6 ft. storm surge -- but not a whole lot of people are heeding it, at least not yet.  All the major island hotels and restaurants are remaining open -- with all those guest vehicles on mostly open, ground level parking lots, so it's hard to believe the county is all that worried about surge.   A few indoor events are still planning to go on.   Utility company has no plans to shut off water unless the storm significantly strengthens.
We are proceeding with buttoning up, but will also be checking the 'cane's status regularly in the a.m., as R.I. will likely change our minds.  We need to decide before 3 p.m. to let hotel know if canceling, and so we have time to throw together some clothes and non-perishables and go, if it comes to that.
This is a pretty stressful situation, and frankly, though I appreciate the info, I also have to say you guys are scaring the bejeezus out of me.
