Hospital Ship

There is one hospital ship on each coast. USNS Comfort is east coast. It takes a while to get them deployed as they must be stocked and manned by stealing staff from already very busy military hospital
A all over the country.  Built in 1970's as supertankers and converted in late 80s.....they are far from new. Depending on condition of hospitals there it is often better to have those huge generators....get their own buildings running, repaired, and then supplement staff.

It sounds like the only port is slammed with ships getting in people and supplies so they really have no place to tie up. And there is no shore utilities avail yet either.  All patients would have to be flown out to ship on the lone helo pad or brought by boat.

Multiple private and public agencies are there working on communication and utilities as well as feeding and distrubuting basic needs.

There are ships already near PR and the islands. Some are troop  carriers that can be transformed into hospitals. I am sure there are already ships also there making water. Ships and military were pre positioned near where the hurr was to hit so they got there fast and more are coming.
