Re: that is straight-up awesome

These layers...

Coastlines Only
Coastlines, Borders & Roads
Infrared, AVN (hourly)
NHC, Forecast Track Line
NHC, Forecast Cone of Uncertainty
NHC, Observed Center Positions
NHC, Observed Track Line
NHC 5-Day Atlantic Tropical Weather Outlook (which actually includes East Pacific, but technically it comes from a layer for the Atlantic)
And then at bottom of the layers panel, the base map layer was ESRI, Road.

And then I adjust the transparency and used the buttons to the right to move some layers up or down. Then you can save the image from the display.

I had some layers missing for a month or two perhaps. There is a security feature in browsers that prevent loading certain data from a site using a script that doesn't set a particular header. An "Access-Control-Allow-Origin" header must be set on a site to allow the layer to be loaded. A lot of layers stopped working and I removed them. However, most I added back because I found that the header was set on some of the sites when accessed via "https" rather than "http". But there are some layers I can't use, like SST layers where you can click to get the temperature, buoy data and others. There are some alternatives, but not as good. I can use an SST layer, but you wouldn't know what the colors mean. It has a legend, but I haven't built a place for any legends to be displayed yet. This site has layers (https://digital.weather.gov/) that could be used if the header was set, but it doesn't set it.

I'll add some more options in the next few days probably. I haven't put the latest updates I have made online yet. I will add the Geostationary Lightning Mapper. (https://realearth.ssec.wisc.edu/?products=GLM.100 About: http://www.goes-r.gov/spacesegment/glm.html)

I can use the RealEarth site layers, so there are likely more I will add from there. In fact I just emailed them yesterday about a bug in creating GIF/MP4 image loops and I got an email back saying they'll work on fixing that.

Eventually I need to figure out how to organize the layers better. That's beyond what I know how to do, so I haven't worked a lot on trying that yet. On the long list of things I'm working on, having satellite imagery update is something I want to do, along with the time of the imagery. That would also involve allowing satellite data to be looped within the display.

I also sometimes add the two mesoscale layers for GOES-16. It adds so many options though. On my list, likely adding something to "Options" layer that toggles the mesoscale options for GOES-16. There are a lot of GOES-16 overlays I don't add, I only added what I thought would be most popular. There's 16 bands available, for both CONUS and the Full Disk. Then there are 16 bands for each of the two mesoscale areas that change too. It makes for a very long list in the display.

Eventually I will get around to the ability to add your own layer to the Cesium display and save a view so you can comeback to it. Not anytime soon though probably.

Right now I have been working on what pops up when you click points. I haven't added it live yet, but I have done "NHC, Tropical Cyclone Watches & Warnings" and then also the "NHC 5-Day Atlantic Tropical Weather Outlook". (The layer gives percentages on popup, but doesn't give the text from the outlook) I need to do the same for "NHC, Observed Center Positions". Most layers don't have clickable data, but I have the option off on some of the layers that do because they the popup contains a lot of info that is not organized. I have to go through and create a nice popup that contains just the data I want it to show for that individual layer, not the various other technical info. I have to process the time and format it nicely for GMT and then convert to the end user's localtime according to their computer. I might add that in a day or two. I've been testing other features in that display offline and some aren't working so I have to turn off certain things before I upload it online.

If anyone sees any interesting layers they want, let me know. I'll look into it, but due to technical issues, some I can't add.
