There was that sonde that had extremely high winds, but those were momentary winds. The SFMR 10 second estimated surface wind value that was suspect was 147mph. But then they used that in the vortex message, which they don't usually do. The high wind sonde had the averaged winds over the lowest 500 feet of about 165mph, but the pressure readings in are a bit odd. The momentary wind 1mb above the surface was 153mph, but the pressure was 1mb off from the eye, which doesn't make sense. So I don't know about that sonde now.
The NE quadrant should be strongest, last pass by far it was, but they turned north on the last pass rather than go NE. |
