Insane winds recorded by dropsonde

139mph at the surface. These are more momentary winds since the sonde is falling through the atmosphere. So keep that in mind. You can't get 1 minute sustained winds obviously. But...

Average Wind Over Lowest Available 150 geopotential meters (gpm) of the sounding:
- Lowest 150m: 160 gpm - 10 gpm (525 geo. feet - 33 geo. feet)
- Wind Direction: 40° (from the NE)
- Wind Speed: 137 knots (158 mph)

That's incredible.
