Atlantic Tropical Storm Origin Points Since 1851

The graphic above is based solely on wind speed from best track data. Along the track of the storm, the first point where the wind speed was 34kts or greater is where a dot is placed.

Only Julia formed over Florida. (Although best track data is subject to later revision, so they could eventually make the formation earlier.)

The one near the Everglades is very close, from 1916:
