Cape Verde / Cabo Verde

As for Cape Verde, I still go by the old way for now for spelling. I see Wikipedia is having a debate about whether to rename it there. I went through the HC model and recon systems a few months ago updating some city and country names (because some names actually changed in the many years since I had first done it) and I left it as Cape Verde for now. I think it is still most known as Cape Verde in the English speaking world. (Google and Bing Maps have Cape Verde still) Eventually I might change it to something like:

Praia, Cabo (Cape) Verde
- or -
Praia, Cape (Cabo) Verde

But for now I don't include that. Maybe I'll reconsider. I noticed the NHC talking about it as Cabo Verde this year so I might go ahead and have both soon. I don't want to confuse people, so I would not simply change to Cabo Verde alone just to be politically correct.

As for the spelling change, U.S. State department site:

"In a diplomatic note sent on November 27, 2013 the Embassy of Cape Verde requested that the United States Government change the name of the country from 'Cape Verde' to 'Cabo Verde'. The U.S. Board on Geographic Names approved the change on December 9, 2013."

CIA Factbook:

"Country name:
conventional long form: Republic of Cabo Verde
conventional short form: Cabo Verde
local long form: Republica de Cabo Verde
local short form: Cabo Verde
etymology: the name derives from Cap-Vert (Green Cape) on the Senegalese coast, the westernmost point of Africa and the nearest mainland to the islands"

People in Cape Verde should understand both Cape Verde and Cabo Verde as I would think it has been a topic of conversation over the years. But someone outside there would likely be less likely to make the connection of Cabo Verde as being Cape Verde.

As for audio of the pronunciation, well, the Verde part:
