the negative comment was about goes-r, I referenced it, as the rapid scan data was being utilized to prepare for goes-r - (now in FL awaiting Nov launch !) anyway, onward & upward...

regarding this thing in the gulf, which will likely not develop, but may dump rain where it's not needed - SPC's hourly mesoanalysis rocks - http://www.spc.noaa.gov/exper/mesoanalysis/new/archiveviewer.php?sector=18&parm=pmsl so many option to choose from
