Live recon using Cesium
Posted by Chris in Tampa on 7/26/2016, 7:47 am
I have completed an early version of the live recon mapping display in Cesium, a 3-D mapping application that runs in your browser without requiring a plugin. It does operate slowly, to not at all, if you use an older computer. Cesium works in most modern browsers, but it does not work in Internet Explorer 10 or earlier.

Under "Live Atlantic recon mapping..." click "Cesium" to view the new display when recon is available:

The live display updates automatically, including the mission list and any selected missions, when live recon is available. There is a variety of options, including viewing multiple missions at once and flying to the location of the plane upon an update, if you have not selected the option to view multiple missions at once.

Additional improvements will be made throughout August to the display.

If you want to view older missions with it, view the recon archive.

The ability to view mapping with the Google Earth plugin will end in August, as that plugin no longer works in many browsers and will be ended by the end of the year by Google.
