The area immediately around me did well. Tampa International Airport did get a 52 mph gust earlier today. Only twigs down around me, along with some palm fronds, especially dead ones.

I went out earlier because I planned to donate blood today. They kept saying on Twitter how they have an urgent need for some blood types locally over Memorial Day and into Tropical Storm Colin. 15 minutes before they said, come out and donate before the storm. (even though it was during the storm) As soon as it was time to start, they didn't. Apparently wherever the area the blood goes to in St. Petersburg was flooded and since they couldn't get any blood there, they couldn't draw it. An accident even occurred at the entrance to the Walmart parking lot where it was. When I left the fire department was checking someone for whiplash. Traffic was heavy in that area due to that. I guess maybe not any worse than usual elsewhere. Traffic is just always unpleasant here, anytime of the day.

I saw some of the flooded roads while Jim was broadcasting and on the local news tonight. They showed video from Holmes Beach where Jim was. (he mentioned there was local media down there) They have been doing live reports there tonight. They actually have had a lot of coverage from there.

The water level behind my house got to within about 3 inches below the top of the seawall, although while I was out there it did splash my foot once. In the neighborhood next to me, which is lower, it did come over the seawall by an inch or two. The front entrance to my neighborhood didn't flood when I was out there. It was just coming out of the storm drain which is even with the tide. After I got home the water might have come up about another 4 to 5 inches perhaps, so the road would have still been fine.

I only have around 2 inches of rain. Pinellas County to the west of me has maybe twice as much. I was just on the edge. I guess in the past the high tide combined with the water is what made the entrance completely impassable at times.

I'll probably post a little video tomorrow. Going to bed early. It's funny, I just got a call from the blood center just now, completely unrelated to today, saying they need blood. I told them, I tried. I guess some areas were open and some closed. Oddly the location the woman was calling from was in St. Pete. and they were open. Oh well.

13,910 sandbags filled in Tampa from the Tampa mayor's press conference.

Canal behind my house, with some plumeria in the water (they have grown that way, they didn't break):

Front entrance to my neighborhood (it would have been about 4 to 5 inches higher later, it was too rainy to go back out):
