You post a lot of good links. I have been using the SSEC link you posted a long time ago:
https://realearth.ssec.wisc.edu/

I used that for the recon images.

I created an overlay file of SSEC imagery last year:
http://www.tropicalatlantic.com/satellite/#ssec_overlays

Makes it easier to use.
