Obviously everyone should go to the NHC site and see what they have to say...

Every weather site has links...

But most go nuts... they are NOT buying a canoe or an axe. Spoiler alert if you live in New Orleans you might need an axe. If you live in some areas of Florida today you might need a canoe.

I try to err on the side of reality and entertaining.

When there is a hurricane there are no organic ways to deal with life after a hurricane. You will be forgiving if you buy and store paper plates, cups and if you want to eat poptarts cold .. know one will know.

I've heard people say they don't want to buy a lot of water, they hate water..

Okay................. fill your bathtub and drink warm Red Bull... fine.

You will be very lucky if you have a strong hurricane and your hurricane supplies don't blow away. I know people who this happened to in Homestead after Andrew..

Keep whatever you need to keep your sanity... coloring books, crayons... explain to your children how your grandparents used jacks... not the kind you need to charge your ipad with...

Been sooo long in South Florida most people no longer take it seriously...they should!
