A Davis Vantage Vue station is what I have and you can get one for under 300.  Its like the economic version of the higher dollar Davis stations.  It is wireless.  But the data logger and weatherlink software will put you over the 300 budget.  Probably more in the range of 450 ish total.  Have my own Davis Weatherlink site as well as broadcasting to Wunderground and to MADIS (Via APRS).

This is a link to my davis weather link site:  http://www.weatherlink.com/user/slamdaddy/index.php?view=main&headers=1

Also if you go to MADIS https://madis-data.ncep.noaa.gov/MadisSurface/ my Station ID is E1604.

For us hobbyist that are on a budget, this would be the way to go.  I have really enjoyed mine.  Its been online for 5 years now and not a problem.

Hope that helps.
