Great work as always. I forget how often some areas are impacted more than Florida. (although as noted, Hatteras gets a lot of systems coming from inland too) Florida is more highly represented on the purely hurricane ranking. Tampa (#21) and Saint Augustine (#24) gets highly ranked due to tropical storms and hurricanes, but not too many hurricanes. (11 hits) You have to go down to New Orleans (#37) with a few less hurricane hits. (9 hits) But as they say, it only takes one, as that city knows.

I would say Tampa is the luckiest city on the list. (for getting hit with weaker storms rather than more powerful ones) I would say it is easier for a more powerful hurricane to curve into Tampa than one doing so into Saint Augustine. You have warmer water in the western Caribbean and Gulf. Plus, a more dangerously shaped coast. I guess I'm a bit more focused on Tampa since I live here, but I really do think it has been the luckiest. Especially for the size of the metropolitan area.
