I would imagine your area gets water pushed up by fronts while far away, even if the wind was out of the north immediately where you are. With a clockwise current in the Gulf and land shape, I could see why your area would get higher water levels. Why it would be above what is predicted, I don't know. Do predictions take into account fronts? I would think it is more based on averages and not the actual weather patterns. If so, more fronts in the area could increase the level beyond average. And if an average, I don't know what it is averaged over. With rising sea levels, recent history would probably be a bit higher, although that would probably not be a very noticeable level.
