7 days of record highs tied or set in Tampa

As of December 30th...

"THIS IS THE SEVENTH DAY IN A ROW THAT A RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE HAS BEEN BROKEN OR TIED AT TAMPA."

We might make it eight days in a row New Year's Eve. By January 2nd we will finally have normal or below normal temperatures for at least several days. Maybe, hopefully, January will have less 80+ days.



Since December 22nd...



Record highs set or tied in Tampa. (Records began in 1890)

24th: 84 (83, 2011 and other years)
25th: 86 (83, 1984 and other years) ... ties all-time record high for December
26th: 86 (85, 1984) ... ties all-time record high for December (set in 1962, 1978, 1990, 1991, 1994 and day before)
27th: 85 (85, 1990)
28th: 84 (84, 1990)
29th: 85 (85, 1990)
30th: 84 (84, 1990)
31st: ?? (83, 2006 and other years)



Record high minimums set or tied in Tampa.

22nd: 71 (71, 2006)
23rd: 73 (70, 2013 and other years)
24th: 74 (69, 2006) ... ties all-time record high minimum for December (previous record was 74 on Dec. 4th, 1978)
(On the 25th we missed it by a degree. It got down to a chilly 69 and the record high minimum was 70.)
26th: 71 (71, 1941)
27th: 71 (68, 1982)
28th: 72 (68, 1982)
29th: 73 (70, 1990)
30th: 72 (67, 1996)
31st: ?? (71, 2007)



Average temps for December 24th ... High: 71, Low: 53
Average temps for December 30th ... High: 70, Low: 52



This will be the warmest December on record here in Tampa and quite a few other areas around my region.

Average temperature through Dec. 27th: 72.6

Top 5 warmest Decembers:

1. 72.3 in 1931
2. 69.5 in 2006
3. 69.3 in 1971
4. 68.8 in 2001
5. 68.5 in 2013

We had one day where the high was below normal (by 4 degrees) in December and three days where the low was below normal. (by 1, 2 and 6 degrees)

Rain is also well below normal.

Through the 30th: 0.49 inches (0.46 fell on Dec. 18th with our one cold front of the month, or at least the one front that dropped the high below normal for the next day.)
Average month to date for December: 2.40 inches
