- Not a Tropical Storm!

Wow! Sometimes we get hurricane warnings and go to the beach, today we are
"technically not a tropical storm" and we are getting hammered!

To be a tropical storm, there must be sustained winds of 39mph, we are getting
38mph with gusts to 45mph.  As that is a national average, certainly there are
people getting higher winds at their place.

Banks and schools are closed.  The downtown part of the highway is
significantly flooded, but most of Leeward Highway is fine.  There are reports
of power and Internet outages in many places on Provo.  Fortis trucks are out
and they are working to restore power where they can.  Many businesses will
stay closed until it is clear what the day will bring.

There was an unconfirmed report of storm surge flooding in Middle Caicos near
Conch Bar but I haven't heard any details.

The TCI Ferry Service is standing by, but not running the ferries yet.  While
the vessels can operate in up to 50mph winds, the rain makes it very difficult
to see and quite uncomfortable for the Passengers and Crew.

From the available reports it would seem like Providenciales will continue to
get this same weather for the entire day.  The rain will come and go and the
wind will also continue to gust to 45mph.  The 9am forecast says we are outside
of the actual "storm" by only 20 miles.  As it strengthens and moves South
West, we may notice periods of higher intensity.  We are in the South East
quadrant of the storm and, for this particular storm that is an intense
position.  The surf is predicted to be 10-12feet outside of the reef.

Stay Safe
