This storm is very unique. I really don't know why some are so small like this sometimes. Of course Danny could get bigger at any time. (I don't know if it will because I don't know why it is so small in the first place.)
This must be exceptionally challenging for the NHC. With such a small storm satellites will probably have a hard time estimating wind. Models already don't have recon data that would be very helpful and with this small size, it must be a unique challenge for them too. The islands are just going to have to be prepared for the expected and unexpected at the same time, just in case things don't get a whole lot clearer in the next day or two. If it gets weaker or stronger the track could change. And intensity is usually more difficult anyway, but with this thing potentially more susceptible to dry air and/or shear, it's really complicated. |
