The azaela oddly looked like they were going to bud this past weekend. Small, little dots of rosy pink on the inside of the new growth. I'm talking noticeable color... now we have over 36 hours below freezing. They face the North .... we had wind chills near zero.

Am guessing the ground is really hard out there right now.

It's forecast to possibly rain this weekend. How long does it take for the ground to be really hard vs just a tease of a hard freeze?

I get confused here with terminology I'm just learning. So much talk on the "wedge" and the "warm tongue" and they never know if it will snow or rain until it does....add in the hard ground question.

See:

"BOTTOM LINE... IT APPEARS THAT THE ABSOLUTE
WORST CASE SCENARIO WOULD BE A FEW LIGHT SPRINKLES VERY LATE TONIGHT
AND EARLY FRIDAY IN THE SE COASTAL PLAIN. THIS WOULD NOT BE WORTH
THE MENTION IF THE SURFACE TEMPERATURES WERE NOT SO COLD (20
DEGREES). THE CHANCE OF OCCURRENCE IS LESS THAN 15 PERCENT BUT WORTH
THE MENTION NONETHELESS BECAUSE OF THE HAZARD SUCH A LIGHT FREEZING
RAIN COULD CAUSE IF IT WERE TO OCCUR."

Imagine the freezing temps will set those azalea's back a bit.

In wys I think Jax is an interesting place to live. Enough of a touch of winter weather and close enough to drive up to get some.. some leaves turn, yet still close to the ocean and palm trees.

Then again ... Tampa area has great beauty :)
