At least here in Puerto Rico, media meteorologists are very conservative. They relay NHC and local NWS statements, and seldom, if ever, do I see a "personal" forecast. For example, their message today has been that we are out of the possibility of storm force winds, except for gusts that may accompany storm cells, and that heavy rain may be expected.
As for models, I share Jim's statement...no closed circulation, models are worthless. Also, while overland, I realy lie to see NAM, as I think it has a better take on localized conditions.
