Thanks so much for posting this information, Chris.  My husband and I were on Kauai for a couple of weeks in August celebrating our anniversary before Iniki hit in September.  We moved to Florida from Virginia in early November that year and drove over to Homestead.  Seeing that damage was chilling. When we went back to Kauai in 1995, the damage was still very visible.  In 1998, they were still rebuilding. When we returned in 2003, we talked to a lot of the locals who experienced the storm.  It took a full 10 years for their economy to return to normal. It doesn't hurt to renew our memories of what happened during these killer storms.  We have seen enough damage in Florida, the Carolinas and Kauai never to be complacent.
