Re: Area south of Cape Verde Islands could develop in central Atlantic early next week

Yep. The GFS, as usual of course two weeks out, has had this area or the one behind it doing various things from run to run. Too far out. (In most recent run of GFS, the area the NHC is covering threatens Bermuda in around 10 to 11 days and the thing the GFS developed behind it previously does not.)

I should mention that when someone looks at the front page on the NHC site, they are looking at the 2 day outlook for the Atlantic on the image they have. Right now there is a yellow X. However, the 5 day chances are in the medium range at the moment, with an orange X on the 5 day outlook and an oval where it could potentially develop.

NHC front page has version of two day outlook without clouds:

2 day outlook with satellite and X's:

5 day outlook without clouds, X's and the potential region where it could develop:

A lot of different images to look at, but I guess a nice clean version of the two day outlook is probably best for the NHC front page since people probably care more about the near term. But it can be a little bit confusing to people. (Well, I looked at it anyway and already forgot. I saw on Facebook the orange oval and then saw the NHC front page and thought they downgraded the chances for a moment until I realized my error.)
