in many subdivisions/cities it's a homeowner's requirement to clear the sidewalk. a friend in St Paul received a letter from the city for a potential, sizable fine on her rental house for the tenants not doing it, just after one storm (she even supplies the snow blower) - it's required to be clear and ice-free, so also needs to put down de-icing stuff - there is a school bus stop on her corner, as well as a USPS mail drop box
owning a snow blower is almost a given, but they don't work well in all types of snow & if it's a frozen pile that a plow dumped in your driveway hours earlier, forget it - the heavy, wet stuff is called heart-attack snow, I don't miss it :( |
