Cyrpress thanks! I'm the Keynote speaker in March in NOLA at a conference and been looking back at events that changed the course of history in some places. This is a great site... note family histories were greatly impacted in all ways.

Demographically speaking... along the Gulf Coast (including FL Panhandle) and Long Island weather events (especially hurricanes) changed the course of history in some areas.

It's amazing the Miami rebuilt after the 26 Hurricane. Had it been 29.. going into the depression the results might not have been the same. Ironically a quiet early 1930s in South Florida helped a small building boom on MIami Beach during the depression as Art Deco hotels were built. Many builders, carpenters and just people looking for work moved south to work on those projects.

In the same way there was nothing to stop the building boom in Miami from 65 to 92.. Betsy to Andrew.

In the 1800s... families picked up.. moved away, towns were not rebuilt.

Thanks
