I love to read the comments people post on their Facebook page about naming storms:

Some places online pick up on the names too, and inevitably some people on Twitter and Facebook too, so they won't stop.

"The naming program last year was a huge success, with well over a billion impressions on Twitter and regular use by numerous schools, agencies and media outlets," said Bryan Norcross, senior hurricane specialist at The Weather Channel and compiler of the list. "It's simply easier to communicate about a complex storm if it has a name, which our naming program last year demonstrated. And good communications benefits everyone."

I actually heard one of the on air mets on TWC a few days ago describe the last storm as the "cold front we call Leon". Maybe warm fronts next? Heat Wave Zeus.

I've been trying to figure out how they did with the last storm. TWC constantly talks about how the NWS saw this coming and people had warning, but what they do not say is whether they articulated those warnings properly to their audience. I didn't watch them leading up to the storm, so I'm not sure how they did for sure. From what I can find it seems some of them were caught off guard, but I'm not sure. I have been watching some of TWC to find out and not once have I seen how they actually pointed out before the storm how Atlanta would fair.
