Hey Chris,

Always good to hear from you - sorry for delayed reply; hadn't been back here to check in a coupla days.

I suppose one could try to capture the water in a tub or sink,  but somehow that would make me nervous, going to sleep and hoping the overflow did its job.   Call me a ninny.

As for the tub, I don't know that I could even get our tub fillers to drip or very slow stream rather than fast stream; never tried it.  Will have to think on all that/talk to hubby.

No, I don't believe we have to worry about the drain pipes freezing;  just the supply lines that are always under pressure/filled.  A drip or stream (even better) of course keeps the water in motion, making it more difficult to freeze.

Looks as if we may have yet another "dripper" tomorrow night.

As for being a "northerner" (ha) - though I was  born in Virginia I did indeed spend the last 20 years before moving here in 2000 in one of the coldest, snowiest spots in Connecticut, so whatever we're seeing here (winter-weather-wise) is child's play.
