Lee took toll on Alabama coast

Posted by LawKat on 9/5/2011, 1:05 pm

More than 10 inches of rain over 4 days, coupled with a steady wind of 30+ for those same four days has resulted in downed trees over much of Mobile and Baldwin Counties.  At least one tornado destroyed a home and more than 15 tornado warnings (unconfirmed) have plagued the area.

Coastal streets are washed.  Most of Coden and Bayou La Batre are underwater right now.  Dauphin Island has suffered some massive erosion effects along the west end.

The weather is possibly the worst that it has been this morning and right now with driving wind, winds, and now lightning.

Sometimes a prolonged weak storm can be as damaging as stronger storms.
