Hurricane history has been broken- Longest strech without a major hurricane impact in the USA

The record has now been surpassed.... the longest period of time the US went without a landfalling category 3- 100 knot hurricane was from August 1999 (hurricane Bret-cat3)  to  August 2004 (hurricane Charley- cat 4)  a period of 5 years....... .....the last time that the USA was hit by a category 3 hurricane was back in October 2005 (hurricane Wilma- Cat 3, FL)  a period of over 5 years now........The longest strech going back the last 100 years without a landfalling major storm was between October 1909 and August 1915.  A period of 5 years, 10 months.....So if the USA is not hit by a category 3 storm before August 2011 that will be the longest strech in over 100 years....My records run from 1910 to the present as it was very difficult to determine the exact strengths of hurricanes before 1910.
