hurricanes and winter storms

I had listened to Jim's youtube show and when he mentioned how large the areas of low pressure were and how they can form large powerful hurricanes given time I began to think "is there a correlation between the lows were seeing now and blizzards this coming winter".So I googled it and found accu-weather's Mr.Bastardi predicts a milder winter in the south and east because of our active hurricane season this year. Now knowing just enough about meteorology  to tell it is rainin cause I am getting wet,I have to ask---does that make sense?Wasn't 2004 a huge year for hurricane activity AND winter storms across the gulf coast? If memory serves folks in Louisiana and Mississippi got hit with severe ice storms that December,

you guys got a take on this ?
