we watched on the streaming site that DESteve posted earlier - they had a great view of Hilo Bay & while CNN was saying that the 1st waves were starting to appear, the water in Hilo Bay had already been sucked out & come back 2 times.  It did appear to start about the time it was forecast to arrive, just shortly after 11 am Hawaii time.  That station had excellent coverage all day.  They have a time lapse video on their site now: time lapse view of Hilo Bay

had a brief call from a friend on the big island early am, they planned to evacuate "up" in a building, as his property there is in an inundation zone.  I was very relieved, as I'm sure everyone else is, that Hawaii sufferred no great harm.
