In 1960 Chile was hit by another major earthquake

In terms of a tsunami and it was closer to population. Of course we have no clue how destructive this will be yet.

CNN said they evacuated high rises in Buenos Aires because they were swaying. That's across the Andes 800 miles away. Santiago is 200 miles away from. Talca with 200,000 people is just about 100 miles away. Deaths confirmed as far away as at least 200 miles.
