I think the large amounts of snow in the N.E is due to the positioning of the jet stream due to elnino. The storms are tapping into the gulf moisture & letting loose in the N.E. That thermohaline movie is very cool and the course around the antarctic which is shrinking IMO would bring warmer waters towards the equator & up towards Greenland.
