The way I look at this problen is simply dollars & cents or should I say (sense). There were numerous occasions this season where quickscat would have done just fine rather than sending aircraft in. I know quickscat is more money up front but in the long run it could help to significantly reduce hurricane hunter time. We can save the hunters for when it really counts like when a hurricane is threatening land rather than flying missions into sheared weak lows.
